Brooktree
Corporation
ProfitLine was retained by Brooktree to analyze their complete telecommunications
configuration, develop a strategic plan for implementing configuration
changes, and negotiate vendor contracts. Brooktree has multiple national
and international sites integrated through a wide area network. The data
network services originally consisted of international private lines,
X.25 connections, and frame relay. Brooktree also was utilizing a T-1
connection to the Internet and maintaining a sophisticated web site. In
addition, video conferencing, ISDN service and competitive access providers
(CAPS) were analyzed. Brooktree was being provided voice service under
multiple contracts with multiple vendors.
ProfitLine
was successful in assisting Brooktree in consolidating their entire data
network under the frame relay platform with a single vendor. The data
network costs were reduced by nearly 70%, generating savings of nearly
$300,000 per year. ProfitLine assisted Brooktree in consolidating voice
services with one vendor and reducing the number of voice contracts to
one. Voice costs were reduced by over 30%, generating savings in excess
of $100,000 per year. ProfitLine negotiated customized tariffs for all
services. Brooktree was able to achieve the consolidation and price savings
while staying with its existing, primary vendors for voice and data. Brooktree's
voice and data networks are more reliable than ever.
Vertical
Marketing
ProfitLine was retained by Vertical Marketing while they were in the middle
of a multi-year contract. They are a high volume user of voice telecommunications
services. After completing their own internal analysis their Telecommunications
Specialists determined that their rates were comparable with the lowest
rates being offered to them by a variety of vendors in the current marketplace.
Although they believed they were aware of the lowest pricing, Vertical
Marketing still allowed ProfitLine to analyze their current pricing. Based
on their extensive research, Vertical's staff believed that if ProfitLine
was able to produce a 3-4% savings then they would consider the analysis
a success.
ProfitLine
simply collected previous months' billing on CD-ROM and a copy of their
existing vendor contract. As a result, ProfitLine reduced their rates
by 20% overall. We modified their existing contract to include more favorable
terms and conditions, including lessening their financial exposure and
increasing their service options for future upturns or downturns in business.
ProfitLine also recovered over 16 months of overcharges from their vendor.
Synbiotics
Corporation
Synbiotics is a medical equipment company specializing in veterinary products.
They have operations on both coasts and in France. They have been a long
time customer of a large long distance company. Every year their representative
would show up and offer a slightly lower rate in exchange for a contract
extension.
When ProfitLine
was hired, we were asked to give Synbiotics assurance that if they extended
their contract again, they did so at the lowest possible rate. The average
rate decrease offered by their long distance representative over the last
several years was just over four percent. ProfitLine identified the fact
that they were never offered a lower tariff rate, just a slightly higher
discount. We identified the lowest tariff that fit their usage profile
and saved Synbiotics over 40% per year.
